Purchasing & Inventory Technician

Role description:

The Pharmacy and Inventory Technician is neat, organized, and passionate about optimizing purchasing margins for MMP. In this role, you will make all inventory purchasing decisions, maintain, organize, and improve our inventory management processes, and be a member of a strong team of pharmacy technicians whose responsibility is to deliver the right product to our partners on time every time.

This position reports to the Logistics Supervisor, and is responsible for ensuring MMP's dispensing technicians and community partners are fully supported by having the appropriate inventory neatly organized and readily available in the most efficient location. You will be responsible for ordering, receiving, and logging all inventory items in the fulfillment department.   You will regularly perform physical counts and auditing of inventory to ensure accurate and optimal perpetual inventory levels. You will process for returns to wholesaler any inventory overstock, to ensure maximum credit to MMP. On at least monthly basis, you will physically audit inventory expiration dates and lot numbers to ensure proper removal, recall, and disposal of unusable inventory. You will prepare, audit, track and restock all community convenience boxes (C-boxes).

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for daily purchasing of medications and optimizing purchasing margins.
  2. Responsible for managing and optimizing days of inventory on hand and inventory turns.
  3. Responsible for product changes by managing usage of replaced NDC with new NDC.
  4. Responsible for monitoring, processing or disposal of any overstock, returns, recalls, and expired products.
  5. Responsible for optimizing inventory storage and maintaining accurate perpetual on-hand counts and valuation.
  6. Responsible for preparing, auditing, accurately tracking and restocking all community convenience Boxes (C-Box) 

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. One year of experience in a Pharmacy Long Term Care (LTC) or fast paced inventory environment preferred. Framework, DocuTrack and inventory responsibility experience a plus.
  2. Outstanding analytical skills. Proven ability to problem-solve effectively is absolutely necessary. 
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excels at establishing rapport and working with others.  
  4. Intermediate or advanced proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Adobe
  5. IL Pharmacy Technician license required with a Certified Pharmacy Technician license preferred (required within 2 years of receiving license if not already certified)
  6. Motivated and highly-organized team-member with professional demeanor and appearance, excellent customer service skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
